Lisa Campos Honored as Top Athletic Director by Women Leaders in Sports
UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lisa Campos has been named the Sandy Barbour Nike DI FBS Athletic Director of the Year by Women Leaders in Sports. This prestigious award recognizes exceptional women leaders in the sports industry who embody bold leadership, innovation, and a commitment to excellence.
Campos was honored alongside NFL's Sam Rapoport, who received the Nell Jackson Nike Executive of the Year award. Campos' recognition is a testament to her transformative impact on UTSA Athletics, which has experienced one of its most successful periods in history under her leadership.
During her tenure, UTSA has excelled in various sports, including baseball, women's basketball, and soccer, producing over 40 All-Americans, nearly 300 all-conference selections, and 11 team conference championships. Campos has also spearheaded a transformational change to the university's athletics facilities, opening several state-of-the-art venues, including the $40.4 million Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence.
Campos' commitment to academic success is equally impressive, with UTSA Athletics recording an NCAA Division I Graduation Success Rate of over 80% each year since her arrival. She has also led a national model for serving first-generation student-athletes and launched the UTSA Athletics Hall of Fame to honor its legendary student-athletes, coaches, and administrators.
