London-Based Ineffable Intelligence Adds Six Top Cofounders in High-Stakes Hiring Spree

Ineffable Intelligence, a London-based AI startup co-founded by David Silver, has added six high-profile cofounders to its team. The new hires include four former Google DeepMind colleagues of Silver's: Chris Apps, Wojciech Czarnecki, Lasse Espeholt, and Junhyuk Oh.

The group also includes Alexandre Laterre, the former head of research at InstaDeep, which was acquired by biotech company BioNTech in 2023. Heather Gorham, a partner at Flying Fish, rounds out the new cofounders. Ineffable confirmed the hires but declined to comment further.

The startup's mission is to create AI superintelligence using reinforcement learning, an approach closely associated with Silver. Oh will lead this effort, having previously worked on DeepMind's AlphaStar project and developed new algorithms for reinforcement learning.
