Long Island Amazon Fresh to Become Whole Foods
A former Amazon Fresh supermarket on Long Island will be converted into a Whole Foods Market. The space in Oceanside, located at 3620 Long Beach Rd., was one of two Fresh stores on the island that Amazon decided to close.
Amazon had struggled with profitability for years and announced in January that it would shut down its remaining 57 Fresh stores in eight states, including New York. The company is transitioning some of these locations into Whole Foods stores.
Austin-based Whole Foods has eight stores on Long Island, including one that opened in March at The Shops at SunVet in Holbrook. The Oceanside store will become the latest location to be converted.
