Longtime Microsoft Communications Chief Frank Shaw Exits After Nearly 30 Years

Frank X. Shaw, Microsoft's chief communications officer, is leaving after nearly 30 years of service to the company. In his memo to staff, Shaw stated that he has decided it is time to move on and try new ventures, but has not yet determined what is next.

Shaw, who has been in his role for 17 years, will remain with Microsoft until the end of the year. He previously served as president at We. Communications for 12 years, where he worked closely with Microsoft's public relations apparatus.

During his tenure, Shaw played a major role in shaping how Microsoft communicates to the outside world, including through events, senior executive access, and other matters. As one of Silicon Valley's most recognized PR professionals, Shaw has been a key figure in Microsoft's public messaging.
