Lord Alan Sugar Slams American Express Over Credit Limit Snub
Lord Alan Sugar, a billionaire entrepreneur and former host of The Apprentice, publicly denounced American Express after he was denied an increase in his credit limit. According to Sugar's account on X (formerly Twitter), he spent over an hour on the phone with the company, speaking to multiple representatives before finally reaching someone who acknowledged his financial status.
However, even this person was unable to grant Sugar the desired credit limit increase due to 'their system,' as Sugar described it. He expressed his frustration and labeled American Express 'a bunch of idiots' in response to criticism from some of his followers that he should not expect special treatment simply because of his wealth.
Sugar, who has a net worth of £1.138 billion, clarified that he does not carry large amounts of cash and relies on credit cards for purchases. He emphasized that he was exposing American Express's inefficiencies rather than complaining about the situation personally.
