Billionaire Lord Alan Sugar has publicly slammed American Express for rejecting his request to increase his credit limit. The business tycoon, who has an estimated net worth of £1.1 billion to £1.3 billion, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration with the company's 'system'.
Sugar, 79, and a familiar face on BBC's The Apprentice, has had a long and successful career in business. However, he was left disappointed when American Express refused to increase his credit limit after an hour-long phone call that involved being passed to four different people.
In a post on X, Sugar wrote: 'I don't walk around with bags full of cash. I need a credit card to buy things.' He also responded to a comment from another user who questioned why he needed a credit limit increase, saying 'DO PRACTICE BEING AN IDIOT.'
American Express has not commented on the matter.
