LOT Polish Airlines Takes Boeing to Jury Trial Over 737 MAX Crisis
LOT Polish Airlines is suing Boeing in a Seattle federal court over the 737 MAX crisis. The airline alleges that Boeing knew about the risks of its Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) as early as 2016, but concealed them from customers to avoid triggering simulator training requirements.
The lawsuit claims that Boeing representatives made false or misleading statements about the MAX's flight characteristics and training requirements in 2016. LOT Polish Airlines signed lease agreements based on those representations, but later discovered that the aircraft's MCAS system was flawed.
As a result of the grounding, LOT Polish Airlines claims to have suffered substantial financial losses, including lost revenue and accrued leases. The airline currently operates 26 Boeing 737 MAX jets in daily service.
