Golfer Shane Lowry secured his second Irish Open trophy at the Amgen Irish Open, winning by a record 11-shot margin on September 14, 2026. However, this victory was bittersweet for the Offaly man as it came without the support of his wife and children.

Lowry endured several setbacks early in the year, including near-misses at the Dubai Invitational and Cognizant Classic, where he admitted to throwing away a lead. He expressed gratitude towards his family for their unwavering support during this challenging period.

'My mum is standing just there; it's been unreal,' Lowry said in an interview with Sky Sports. 'When things are not going well at this level, it's hard at home as well, but my wife's been a huge support and my kids.' He added that he was eager to celebrate his victory with his family upon returning home.
