Shane Lowry made history at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg by winning the Amgen Irish Open by a record 11 shots. This victory marks his second win in the tournament, 17 years after he first won it as an amateur.

Lowry's performance was impressive from start to finish, with a course-record 62 on Friday setting the tone for his weekend play. He extended his lead throughout the final round, making birdies at several holes and pushing his advantage to nine shots at one point.

In the end, Lowry's record-breaking victory came down to the wire, as he sank a 29-footer for birdie at the last hole. The Irishman's win has lifted him to second in the European Team Ranking, with 250.00 points and just 9.30 points shy of early leader Joe Dean.

Lowry's victory is seen as an important boost to his Ryder Cup ambitions, particularly given that he will be returning to Adare Manor next year for another tournament. He stated that making a winning team there is central to his motivation over the next 12 months.
