Ireland's Shane Lowry has taken a commanding four-shot lead into the final round of the Amgen Irish Open after producing another superb display at Trump Doonbeg.

Lowry carded a third-round 65, moving clear at the top of the leaderboard and putting himself in prime position to claim the title for a second time.

The Offaly star relied heavily on his trademark short game during a tense back nine in front of huge galleries in West Clare. US President Donald Trump was among those watching Lowry's impressive display.

Lowry made a perfect start when a long birdie putt dropped at the first, and he picked up another shot at the par-five fourth. His only bogey of the day came at the fifth, but he responded in style with birdies at the eighth, 10th, 12th, and 15th.

The home favourite was forced to scramble over the closing stretch but repeatedly produced when it mattered, getting up and down from difficult positions on each of the final three holes, including from the grandstand drop zone on the last.
