Lowry Takes Solo Lead at Amgen Irish Open with Record-Breaking Round

Shane Lowry is back on top at the Amgen Irish Open, just like he was 17 years ago when he won his home tournament in a playoff. The young golfer, now 22, has been playing lights out, making six birdies on the front nine and six under to take the solo lead.

Rory McIlroy, defending his title, was in second place at one under but dropped a shot on the seventh hole before picking up two shots on the next. Meanwhile, Jon Rahm, the two-time winner of this event, was tied for third with Brooks Koepka and Robert MacIntyre.

Koepka had a rough first day but bounced back with a 66 in round two, while MacIntyre also made a strong comeback after struggling on the first day. The Irish Open is shaping up to be an exciting competition, and Lowry's lead by three going into the weekend has raised expectations.
