Lucid Robotaxi Programme Engineer Leaves for Nvidia Ahead of Launch
An engineer who played a key role in Lucid's robotaxi programme has left the company for Nvidia, just months before the service's planned launch. Andrew Chen joined Lucid in April 2024 and held various positions, including Senior Vehicle Integration Engineer and Assistant Chief Engineer of the Chief Engineering team for the Lucid-Nuro-Uber Rideshare program.
Chen was responsible for representing the Chief Engineer in system-level design and product specification reviews. He also managed vehicle build and validation for EU and KSA, including a month-long deployment to Saudi Arabia, and led alignment across systems engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality to architect and execute the launch vehicle build phase.
Chen left Lucid on August 26, just before the planned launch of the robotaxi service in the San Francisco Bay Area. He joined Nvidia as a Senior Product Program Manager on the Language Processing Unit (LPU) team, where he will work with the Groq 3 LPU inference chip.
