Luckey Fires Back at Former Taco Bell CEO Over McDonald's Drink Criticism
Palmer Luckey, co-founder of Anduril Industries, fired back at former Taco Bell CEO Greg Creed over his criticism of McDonald's new beverage offerings.
Creed had argued that McDonald's push into specialty drinks would create unnecessary operational complexity and fail to give the restaurant chain a distinctive identity.
Luckey countered that McDonald's is trying to capitalize on an established trend, pointing out that other major chains like Starbucks, Taco Bell, Sonic, Panera, and Jack in the Box offer similar fruit-based drinks with caffeine.
'McDonald's is explicitly trying to ride this fruit+caffeine fad,' Luckey said. 'It would force them to educate customers unnecessarily if they tried to create a new McDonald's-specific term.'
