Lufthansa Rejects Boeing's Oldest 777-9s Amid Delivery Delays
Lufthansa has joined American Airlines in rejecting some of Boeing's oldest 777-9 aircraft. In its Q2 earnings call, CEO Carsten Spohr confirmed that discussions are underway with Boeing to determine which early-production planes Lufthansa will accept and which it will refuse.
The airline is seeking financial contributions from Boeing to bring the rejected planes up to the latest standard.
This development follows American Airlines' decision in May to reject six 777-9 aircraft due to delivery delays.
