Lufthansa Returns to Southeast Asia with New Nonstop Route

Lufthansa is set to launch its new nonstop route from Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) on October 25, marking the airline's return to Southeast Asia after a ten-year absence.

The long-haul flight will operate five times a week using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which has 28 seats in business class and 231 in economy. The route is expected to be a key connectivity link between Europe and Malaysia, with an estimated 54,000 round-trip passengers per year.

Lufthansa's focus on long-haul premium markets may have made the return to KUL unexpected, given its relatively small presence in Southeast Asia. However, the airline is banking on higher-yielding segments from larger European cities and Star Alliance hubs that currently lack nonstop flights to Malaysia.
