Luigi Mangione is expected to plead guilty in the federal case against him for allegedly stalking and killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The case has been highly publicized, with many criticizing the health insurance industry. Mangione's lawyers had previously expressed concerns about double jeopardy, but it appears they have reached an agreement with federal prosecutors.

Mangione is accused of traveling from Maryland to New York City to ambush Thompson on December 4, 2024, outside a Manhattan hotel.
