Luxair Welcomes First Two Owned Boeing 737-8 Aircraft
Luxair has taken delivery of its first two owned Boeing 737-8 aircraft at Luxembourg Airport, marking a significant milestone in their fleet-renewal programme valued at over €1 billion. This ambitious project aims to replace the airline's existing fleet with modern, fuel-efficient jets.
The programme will eventually consist of nine Embraer aircraft and 12 Boeing jets, with options for two additional Boeing aircraft. By the mid-2030s, Luxair could operate up to 14 737 MAX aircraft, replacing their entire current fleet.
The 737-8 is configured to seat 186 passengers and will primarily serve routes with high demand. Notably, Luxair has retained a 30-inch seat pitch across the fleet, while the Boeing Sky Interior provides larger windows, increased overhead storage, and adjustable LED lighting.
The airline claims that the 737-8 consumes around 20% less fuel and produces approximately 20% fewer CO2 emissions than the models it replaces. Its noise footprint is also claimed to be 50% smaller, which should lead to significant cost savings for Luxair.
