Cape Breton-born fiddler Ashley MacIsaac has dropped his $1.5-million lawsuit against Google, alleging that the tech giant is liable for an AI Overview's statements labeling him a sex offender.

The AI Overview incorrectly linked MacIsaac to a Newfoundland man with a similar name who was convicted of sexual assault, causing the cancellation of a gig at a Nova Scotia First Nation.

MacIsaac declined to comment on why he ended his lawsuit, but Toronto lawyer Maanit Zemel suggests that Google may have had its own incentive to settle the case without a formal ruling.
