MacKenzie Scott Publishes Novel on Substack After Donating Billions
MacKenzie Scott, the billionaire philanthropist and ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has made headlines for her generosity, donating over $26 billion to charity in recent years. But now she's turning her attention back to her writing roots, releasing a new novel titled Last Days in Two Nations on Substack.
Scott was trained by the acclaimed writer Toni Morrison during her time at Princeton University in the early 1990s and has long credited Morrison with shaping her writing style. Her new novel appears to center on a fictional religious community called the Church of the Long Tomorrow, whose members are 'trapped by beliefs that were not their own.'
The entire novel will be released by August 31st, although it's unclear what exactly the story is about beyond its subtitle, A History in Eighteen Minds. Scott has opted to publish her book on an open platform, rather than through a publishing house or major bookseller like Amazon.
