Magnificent 7 Profit Engines Keep Accelerating
The Magnificent 7 label has faded from Wall Street chatter, but their profit engines continue to generate impressive results. These seven companies - NVIDIA (NVDA), Microsoft (MSFT), Apple (AAPL), Alphabet (GOOG), Amazon (AMZN), Meta Platforms (META), and Tesla (TSLA) - collectively produce around $2.3 billion in operating profits every day, based on a trailing 12-month basis.
Breaking down the daily figure reveals that NVIDIA leads with $541 million in operating income per day, followed closely by Microsoft at $425 million and Apple at $424 million. Alphabet ranks fourth with $404 million, while Amazon's contribution is significantly lower at $257 million. Meta Platforms comes in sixth at $238 million, and Tesla brings up the rear with only $13 million.
Recent quarters demonstrate why this daily figure keeps compounding. NVIDIA posted a 124% year-over-year increase in operating income for its quarter ending July 31, 2026, while Microsoft's commercial revenue reached an impressive $331.839 billion in fiscal 2026. Alphabet's Google Cloud grew 82% year over year to $24.768 billion.
Despite the earnings horsepower, share-price behavior has diverged sharply among these companies. NVIDIA is up 23.5% over the last 12 months and 17.32% year-to-date, while Apple has climbed 44.98% in one year. However, Microsoft is essentially flat at -0.26% over one year, Meta Platforms has slipped -13.42%, and Tesla is down -18.74% year to date.
The bull argument starts with accelerating cash generation. NVIDIA expects its fiscal 2028 revenue to grow approximately 70% while remaining supply constrained. Microsoft's commercial remaining performance obligation reached $678 billion, up 84%. Alphabet's cloud backlog of $514 billion alone exceeds the total market cap of most companies.
