Man Charged After Officer-Involved Shooting Near Home Depot
A man has been charged in connection with an officer-involved shooting that occurred near a Home Depot in Benton Township, Berrien County. According to reports, 46-year-old Peter Pearson was shot by police after he fired at a woman and then pointed a gun at officers.
Police say that Pearson first fired at the woman before running into a wooded area. Officers responded and shot him during the confrontation. He is now in the hospital facing five charges: three counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and two counts of Assaulting, Resisting, or Obstructing a Police Officer.
Pearson's bond has been set at $250,000. Michigan State Police are investigating the incident.
