Man Charged Over Toolara Forest Vehicle Theft Spree
A man has been charged by Gympie Police in connection with multiple stolen vehicles from Toolara Forest.
The alleged theft occurred on September 6th, when the suspect is said to have unlawfully accessed a holding yard on Tin Can Bay Road and made off with several vehicles.
The stolen vehicles included a white 2000 Western Star 4800 Series prime mover attached to a Mammoth Float trailer bearing a Caterpillar D6N LGP bulldozer, as well as a Kubota AG ATV, a Kawasaki ATV, and a Victorian trailer.
On September 7th, police located some of the stolen vehicles a short distance away, but two others - an Australia Pacific Box trailer and a bulldozer - remain outstanding.
A breakthrough in the case came on September 11th when investigators tracked down the Western Star prime mover to an address on Gregory Drive in Redridge. The suspect allegedly exited the vehicle and fled from police before being apprehended.
