Man Sets Himself Ablaze at Google NYC Office Building
A 63-year-old man named John Butch set himself on fire in the lobby of a lower Manhattan building that houses Google's New York offices. The incident occurred at around 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon, and police say there is no clear motive.
Butch was taken to a nearby hospital with a burn unit in stable condition after being rushed from the scene. No one else was injured during the incident.
The building, located at 315 Hudson Street, is home to several tenants including Google, Sweetgreen, and Joe & The Juice on its ground floor. In a statement, Google said it did not believe it was the intended target of Butch's actions.
