Man Sets Himself Ablaze in Lobby of Google Office Building
A disturbing incident occurred in Lower Manhattan on Friday when a 63-year-old man set himself on fire inside the lobby of a building that houses Google offices.
The self-immolation happened around 3 p.m. at the Hudson Street location near Vandam Street, according to the NYPD and FDNY.
Multiple people called 911, and first responders rushed the burned man to Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition, officials said.
The building also houses the NYPD's Internal Affairs Bureau and Google occupies 410,556 square feet in the space, as reported by The Commercial Observer in 2024.
