Luigi Mangione, the man accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a Manhattan sidewalk in December 2024, is set to appear in court for a hearing ahead of his murder trial next month.

Mangione, 28, has pleaded not guilty to murder, weapons, and forgery charges brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. He also faces separate federal stalking charges.

Prosecutors claim they have evidence of Mangione's guilt, including hundreds of hours of surveillance video, fingerprints, DNA, a cellphone, a gun with matching ballistics, and a notebook in which Mangione allegedly wrote about hating insurers and wanting to kill.

The trial is expected to be highly publicized due to the nature of the crime and the high-profile victim. Thompson led UnitedHealth Group's insurance unit before his death outside a hotel where an investor conference was taking place.
