Mangione Jurors to Remain Anonymous Amid Harassment Concerns
Jurors in the high-profile murder trial of Luigi Mangione will remain anonymous due to concerns about harassment and intimidation, according to a ruling by Judge Gregory Carro.
The judge cited instances of threatening or hostile behavior by individuals outside the courthouse as justification for withholding the jurors' names from public release. This decision comes despite opposition from defense lawyers who argued that prosecutors failed to demonstrate an actual threat to the jury's safety and integrity.
Jury selection is set to begin on September 8, and Mangione has pleaded not guilty in separate state and federal cases for his alleged role in the assassination-style killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. If convicted, Mangione faces the possibility of life in prison.
