Mangione Set to Plead Guilty in Federal Court to Stalking UnitedHealthcare CEO
Luigi Mangione, 28, has told a judge he is prepared to plead guilty in federal court to stalking UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson before his murder. The shocking revelation comes just weeks before Mangione's state trial on murder charges.
Mangione was charged with gunning down Thompson, 50, in Midtown Manhattan on December 4, 2024, as he walked to a conference. He has also been accused of writing 'delay,' 'deny' and 'depose' on the ammunition used in the killing, mimicking a phrase used to describe how insurers avoid paying claims.
The charges Mangione is prepared to plead guilty to include one count of interstate stalking resulting in death and one count of stalking through use of interstate facilities resulting in death. Both charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.
