Mangione to Plead Guilty in US Court for Role in Executive's Fatal Shooting
Luigi Mangione is set to plead guilty in a US court on Friday for his role in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealth Group executive Brian Thompson.
The plea deal, which would see Mangione serve life in prison, was negotiated between federal prosecutors and his lawyers.
Mangione, 28, faces both federal and New York state charges over the shooting outside a midtown Manhattan hotel on December 4, 2024.
Prosecutors had previously requested a plea deal, but talks broke down in late June. However, it appears that Mangione's lawyers have agreed to a new deal, which will be heard at the Friday hearing.
