Luigi Mangione, accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024, is set to appear in court for a hearing ahead of his murder trial next month. The killing was highly publicized and drew widespread condemnation from public officials, but it also became emblematic of the frustrations many Americans have with health insurance industry practices.
Mangione, 28, has pleaded not guilty to murder, weapons, and forgery charges brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. He is also facing stalking charges in a separate federal case.
