MapQuest Challenges Google Maps with Refusal to Rename Lake Ontario

MapQuest has been around since 1996, long before Google Maps. The navigation app gained attention recently when President Donald Trump signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario to 'Lake America' in response to a trade dispute with Canada.

Google Maps and Waze updated their apps to reflect the change, but MapQuest refused, stating they wouldn't change their maps. This decision sparked a surge in MapQuest downloads.

I tested MapQuest as an alternative to Google Maps and found it to be a usable navigation app with features like walking and cycling directions, live traffic, and multiple stops. However, it lacks some key features like public transport information and Street View.

The main drawback is that MapQuest doesn't have full support for Android Auto, only offering a beta version. This makes it difficult to use as a primary navigation app on Android devices.
