Marc Jacobs Sparks Outrage with Plans to Style Admitted Killer
Fashion designer Marc Jacobs has sparked outrage after saying he would style admitted killer Luigi Mangione for his state trial in New York. In a segment for Vanity Fair, Jacobs, 63, was administered a lie detector test and asked questions about Mangione, who pleaded guilty to stalking and killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel on December 4, 2024.
Jacobs said he would style Mangione, 28, for the trial, noting that he thinks Mangione looks good as is. He also agreed that Mangione is a fashion 'trendsetter' after Nordstrom sold out of burgundy sweaters following his arraignment in late 2024.
The designer's comments have drawn backlash on social media, with users accusing him of being tone-deaf and vapid. One user said, 'You'd dress a man who killed a father of two children in broad daylight and then plead guilty... shameful as hell hope you rethink this and retract.'
