Marchant Seeks to Revamp Nevada Voting System Amid Election Integrity Concerns

Jim Marchant, the Republican nominee for secretary of state in Nevada's 2026 general election, has expressed his desire to overhaul the state's voting system. Marchant views the current system as corrupt and believes it is infecting both the state and nation.

Marchant, who claims being an 'election denier' is a badge of honor, wants to kick every voter off the rolls and have them reregister with full oversight by the secretary of state. He also advocates for using paper ballots, hand-counting votes, and requiring voters to present photo identification.

Marchant believes that there are loopholes in Nevada law that he can use to eliminate electronic voting machines if elected. However, he notes that even if he cannot do so outright, he can establish a parallel hand-count system alongside the machines to guarantee their accuracy.

Marchant faces incumbent Democrat Cisco Aguilar in the election. Aguilar has defended Nevada's voting system, stating it runs some of the safest and most secure elections in the country.
