Marqeta, a leading card issuing platform, has expanded its collaboration with Google to launch a new feature in Google Wallet designed for kids and teens under 18. The feature allows parents to give their children digital allowances that can be spent in stores using NFC-enabled Android phones or Wear OS devices.

The offering is made possible by Marqeta's modern card issuing platform, which provides tokenization and spend control functionality. This means parents have full visibility into their child's account, including transaction history and notifications, as well as the ability to set daily limits and lock/unlock the balance.

According to Stavan Parikh, VP and General Manager of Payments at Google, 'Google is committed to building products that serve the entire family, and that starts with giving younger users safe, practical tools to learn about money.' Marqeta's end-to-end platform enables Google to bring a differentiated family payments experience to market quickly and at scale.
