Marvell Deal with Alphabet Sets Stage for AI Silicon Dominance
Marvell Technology (MRVL) recently signed a deal with Alphabet that could potentially make Google a top shareholder. The agreement, announced on August 19, includes a warrant allowing Google to purchase up to 58,970,907 MRVL shares at $206.58, totaling approximately $12.18 billion. This move is seen as validation of Marvell's role in the AI silicon market and its custom XPU business.
The commercial agreement covers AI inference accelerators, storage controllers, networking and memory-interface controllers, and near-memory computing tied to the TPU ecosystem, with a performance-based tranche linked to custom-product revenue through fiscal 2033. This endorsement of Marvell's custom XPU business is seen as a key factor in its growth trajectory.
Marvell's Q1 fiscal 2027 results showed revenue of $2.418 billion, a 27.57% year-over-year increase, with Data Center revenue accounting for 76% of the mix at $1.8327 billion. Non-GAAP EPS printed $0.80. Management expects fiscal 2027 revenue near $11.5 billion and fiscal 2028 revenue near $16.5 billion.
The Google warrant provides a significant boost to Marvell's stock price, with a 24/7 Wall St. price target of $288.12 and a buy rating reflecting a 90% confidence read. The model projects Marvell could trade at $354.10 in 12 months, representing a 49.24% total return.
