Marvell Shrugs Off Qualcomm-Amazon Deal: 'We're the Switzerland of This Entire Market'
Marvell Technology's stock price continued its upward trend on Tuesday, despite news that Qualcomm had clinched a key AI chip deal with Amazon, one of Marvell's longtime customers. CEO Matt Murphy dismissed concerns about competition from the deal, saying 'We are basically the Switzerland of this entire market right now; we work with everybody.'
Murphy noted that Marvell has deepened its ties with major hyperscalers and AI players over the past year, including a custom and investment deal with Alphabet's Google. This partnership is expected to bring in $120 billion in revenue through fiscal 2033 and could make Google one of Marvell's biggest investors.
Despite the Qualcomm-Amazon deal giving Amazon the right to acquire up to $4 billion in Qualcomm stock, Murphy expressed confidence in Marvell's position. 'I think it's a competitive market,' he said. 'We're very confident in our position and how we've evolved in this market across all the U.S. hyperscalers and the entire ecosystem.'
