Mayo Clinic Appoints New CIO Amid Growing AI Investment Focus
Mayo Clinic has appointed Arun Kumar Bhaskara-Baba as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO). Bhaskara-Baba joined Mayo Clinic in May and brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously worked at Honeywell's Aerospace Technologies Division and Johnson & Johnson. The institution is currently emphasizing the use of artificial intelligence tools.
Bhaskara-Baba was the global chief digital and information officer for Honeywell's Aerospace Technologies Division from 2022 to 2025, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to that, he spent 15 years with Johnson & Johnson; his last role there was as head of global manufacturing information technology.
Mayo Clinic is working with Microsoft to develop a healthcare-specific AI model and has already implemented over 100 AI algorithms, including tools for ambient clinical note scribing and extracting patient record data. Bhaskara-Baba's experience in AI investments will likely inform Mayo Clinic's strategy in this area.
