McDonald's Beats Earnings Expectations with Strong Global Sales Growth
McDonald's reported better-than-expected earnings for Q2, as global sales growth continued to attract customers despite ongoing pressure on consumer spending.
The company beat Wall Street's profit expectations with adjusted earnings of $3.38 per share, surpassing analysts' estimates of $3.34 per share. Revenue reached $7.1 billion, a 4% increase from the same period last year, but fell short of market expectations at $7.14 billion.
CEO Chris Kempczinski stated that McDonald's delivered positive comparable sales growth across every operating segment during the quarter, driven by customers spending more per visit and choosing higher-value menu items in the US.
The company also reported a 5% increase in systemwide sales to $37 billion during the quarter. International Operated Markets posted 1.3% global comparable sales growth, with strong performance from countries like Germany, Australia, and the UK.
