McDonald's Defies Falling US Sales with Profit Growth
McDonald's has reported positive results for the second quarter of 2026, despite receiving fewer customers in its most important market, the United States. The company posted increases in sales, revenue, and profits, with consolidated revenue reaching $7.099 billion, a 4% increase from the same quarter last year.
The net income rose by 5%, reaching $2.362 billion, while earnings per share increased by 6% to $3.32. Global systemwide sales also saw a growth of 5%, reaching $37 billion.
McDonald's believes that the combination of higher spending per customer, the growth of its digital ecosystem, and new leadership in the United States will enable it to sustain profitable growth over the coming quarters. The company has identified opportunities to improve performance in the U.S. market, where comparable sales increased by 0.8%.
International markets showed stronger performance, with comparable sales increasing by 1.5% in International Operated Markets and 1.9% in International Developmental Licensed Markets. McDonald's loyalty program continues to drive business growth, with sales generated by loyalty program members exceeding $40 billion, representing a growth of more than 20%.
