McDonald's Drive-Thru Plans for Honiton Spark Concerns
A new McDonald's drive-thru restaurant is proposed for Honiton, East Devon. The plans will be discussed at a meeting of Honiton Town Council's planning committee on September 8. Application 26/1117/FUL seeks permission to demolish the existing building and construct a freestanding restaurant with a drive-thru facility.
The development would involve an access road, car parking, landscaping, and customer order displays. Documents submitted by McDonald's claim the investment would be worth millions of pounds and create over 120 jobs in the area.
Opponents have raised concerns about traffic, litter, and odour, while supporters argue that the restaurant would provide employment opportunities and greater food choice for residents. The planning committee meeting will begin at 7pm at The Beehive in Dowell Street.
