McDonald's Earnings Preview: Can World Cup Bump Offset Consumer Pressure?

McDonald's is set to report its Q2 2026 earnings on August 4, with expectations of EPS at $3.33 and revenue of $7.14B.

The company has been struggling lately, trading near a 52-week low of $260.96, down around 11% over the past year.

Despite this, analysts believe that the World Cup will be a significant factor in boosting sales, particularly in regions where McDonald's has a large presence such as Japan, which saw Q2 comparable sales increase by +4.5%.

RBC Capital sees the World Cup as a tailwind for McDonald's, but notes that consumer pressure is an offsetting headwind, meaning it will not be enough to overcome all challenges.
