McDonald's Halts Sales of Popular Korean Burger Amid Complaints
McDonald's Korea suspended sales of its 'Chungju Chalcorn Cheese Crocket Burger' nationwide after only 20 days due to complaints about stones being found in the product. The burger was released on July 9th as part of the 'Taste of Korea' project, which marked its fifth anniversary. It gained immense popularity, reaching 1 million cumulative sales in just two weeks.
The company stated that if there are more than three reports of the same issue, they will preemptively stop selling a product. In this case, despite initial plans to sell the burger until August 12th, McDonald's Korea decided to end sales early.
No decision has been made to resume sales at this time. The company cited customer safety as their top priority in making this decision.
