McDonald's Q2 Sales Missed But Stock Rises Amid Beaten EPS
McDonald's Corporation (MCD) reported its second-quarter earnings results on August 4, 2026. The company's stock rose higher despite global comparable sales rising by only 1.3%, missing the consensus estimate of +1.5%. In the U.S., comparable sales increased by 0.8% against a forecasted 0.9%.
The international operated markets segment saw a rise in comparable sales to 1.5%, matching the expected rate. Meanwhile, the international development licenses segment reported an increase of 1.9% in comparable sales, also in line with expectations.
Although McDonald's missed its Q2 comparable sales target, earnings per share (EPS) exceeded expectations, contributing to the stock's positive movement on Tuesday.
