McDonald's Shares Gain Amid Resilient Earnings and Franchise Revenue Growth
McDonald's (NYSE:MCD) shares ended trading on August 5 at $274.00, up 2.1% from the previous session. The stock has gained 3.3% in two days.
The company reported a 0.8% increase in U.S. same-store sales for Q2 2026, which missed analysts' forecast of 1.06%. However, adjusted earnings per share (EPS) exceeded expectations by six cents at $3.38, while revenue was slightly below Wall Street projections.
Franchised revenue accounted for nearly 70% of the company's reported revenue growth in Q2, totaling $180 million. This helped offset weaker traffic and declining U.S. visits, which fell due to reduced digital deals and overlapping promotions.
CFO Ian Borden attributed the traffic decline to customers either spending less or forgoing visits due to lower digital deals, affecting about two-thirds of the decrease in traffic.
