McDonald's Stock Price Plummets, But Dividend Yield Remains Steady
McDonald's has seen a significant decline in its stock price over the past year, falling by about 21% from its high of $341.75 to its current price of $270.64.
The company's global comparable sales have grown each quarter for the past four quarters, with growth rates ranging from 3.6% to 5.7%. The first quarter of this year saw a 3.8% increase in global comparable sales, and operating income rose by 12% to nearly $3 billion.
The stock's price-to-earnings ratio has fallen from around 28 times earnings at its high to about 22 times earnings now. This decline is due to investors paying less per dollar of McDonald's earnings, not the company earning less.
McDonald's dividend yield remains steady at about 2.7%, which can provide some stability for investors.
