McDonald's Worker Suspended After 'Free Palestine' Outburst at Jewish Customers
A McDonald's worker in Brisbane, Australia has been suspended after allegedly chanting 'Free Palestine' at two Jewish customers who were complaining about their order.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night at a Cannon Hill drive-thru when Asaf and Matan, both from Israel, pulled up to ask for a missing Quarter Pounder burger. The worker became argumentative and demanded to know where they were from.
When the men replied that they lived in the adjacent suburb of Carina and had Israeli accents, the staff member allegedly responded with 'Free Palestine' and repeated it when Asaf asked what she meant.
A McDonald's Australia spokesperson apologized for the customers' experience and stated that the worker has been stood down pending an investigation into the incident. The fast-food giant maintains a zero-tolerance policy for acts of hate and antisemitism in its restaurants and communities.
