McIlroy Hangs On in Windy Conditions at Irish Open
The first round of the Amgen Irish Open was marked by challenging conditions at Doonbeg in Ireland. The strong winds, which reached speeds of over 30 mph, made it difficult for players to navigate the course.
Rory McIlroy managed a respectable score of 1-under 69 despite the tough conditions. He attributed his performance to being able to adapt to the challenging weather and slow pace of play.
However, it was Joaquin Niemann who stood out from the rest, finishing with four birdies in his last five holes to take the lead at 5-under 65. Shane Lowry also impressed with a score of 67.
