McIlroy Sees Trump Visit as Boost to Irish Open
Rory McIlroy, the defending champion of the Amgen Irish Open, believes that US President Donald Trump's appearance at the tournament is a 'good thing'.
Trump will be attending the event at his own golf course, Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Clare. McIlroy acknowledged that there would be logistical challenges with the President's visit but said it could only be beneficial for the tournament.
'When the sitting President of the United States of America visits anywhere, it becomes a logistical challenge,' McIlroy explained.
McIlroy also praised Eric Trump, the son of the US president, who he has a close relationship with. He said that without his support, the tournament might not have taken place at Doonbeg.
