South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has declared August 7th as Boeing 787 Dreamliner Day to celebrate the company's significant contributions to the state's economy. This proclamation marks over a decade of Boeing's presence in North Charleston, where it employs more than 9,000 people and works with over 200 suppliers.

Boeing's operations in South Carolina have generated approximately $1.9 billion for the state's economy since its establishment. The company also operates Fabrication South Carolina Aerostructures (FSCA) in Orangeburg, which supports manufacturing for the 787, as well as other programs like the 777 and 737.

Since 2010, Boeing has invested more than $135 million in nonprofit organizations across the state, focusing on various sectors such as conservation, education, arts, culture, workforce development, health, and human services. The 787 Dreamliner program was launched in April 2004 with a record order from All Nippon Airways, leading to nearly 2,500 orders from over 90 customers worldwide.
