McMaster Declares August 7th Boeing 787 Dreamliner Day
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has proclaimed August 7th as Boeing 787 Dreamliner Day in recognition of the company's significant contributions to the state's economy.
Boeing's North Charleston campus, which has been home to the full production cycle of the 787 Dreamliner for over a decade, employs over 9,000 people and works with more than 200 suppliers, generating approximately $1.9 billion in revenue for South Carolina.
The Boeing 787 program was launched in April 2004 with a record order from All Nippon Airways, and since its first delivery in 2011, nearly 2,500 orders have been placed by over 90 customers worldwide, making it the fastest-selling twin-aisle passenger airplane in the world.
Boeing has also invested over $135 million in nonprofit organizations in South Carolina since 2010, supporting various initiatives such as conservation, education, arts and culture, workforce development, health, and human services.
