Meet Now Takes Notes: Google Expands Feature to In-Person Meetings

Google Meet has rolled out its 'Take Notes' feature for in-person meetings on Android, web, and iOS devices. This capability was previously limited to online meetings but now allows users to take notes during physical gatherings.

The feature, powered by Gemini, can be accessed from the bottom of the screen on Android and iOS or from meet.google.com in a browser. Once activated, users can 'Start taking notes' and set their device nearby, similar to Pixel Recorder or other audio apps. They can pause or stop recording at any time.

After ending the session, Google Meet will provide a complete transcript, summary, and list of action items saved as a Google Doc in Drive, with a link also emailed to users. Currently, only one language is supported, and the recommended meeting length is 15 minutes.

The 'Take Notes' feature requires Google AI Pro or AI Ultra for consumers and will be available in various Workspace editions, including Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Frontline Plus, and Education Add-ons. The rollout begins on Android this month, with web support to follow soon after.
